Is the old joke about the liberal press is funny? Think about it. Conservatives want keep what they got. Who blames them? That's what conservative means. That have achieved most of those who want to maintain the rich or the poor? Who has a majority of television stations and newspapers? The rich or the poor? If I believe it is the poor who are in deep dodo.
Is basically an excuse they have, with an old stand-by if you will, so do not always have to acknowledge any facts or evidence that would force them to reconsider their beliefs. The president can be caught red handed lying (in fact, has many times) and if some media reports about just label the source as partial and ignorant liberal. It is the philosophy / technique of using religion in his followers. Require their followers to the maximum discount or ignore any contrary evidence, and only accept the information coming from within. Go figure why religion and conservatism are so intertwined. It is organized ignorance.
