It’s time to make our move - Bob Barr Press Release

The Revolution: A ManifestoDear Friend,

The Barr/Root campaign is picking up steam!

Over the past few weeks Bob has been traveling from city to city and meeting with supporters and groups who share our message of liberty.

Additionally, the strong media coverage continues with Bob being interviewed by the Washington Post, Fox News, the Christian Broadcasting Network, Time Magazine, NPR, Alan Colmes and many local radio and television stations.

On top of that, Bob’s running mate, Wayne Allyn Root, has been hitting the radio waves several times a day to promote our ticket.

Our staff is coming together strongly as our web team has relocated from California to our campaign hub in Atlanta. I’ve also made the move from Virginia along with the Libertarian Party’s media coordinator, Andrew Davis.

We are working around the clock to get this campaign moving at full speed for our outstanding presidential ticket.

A few days ago, you heard from Russ Verney regarding our need for ballot access funding.

I need to reinforce this need to you.

Money is our number one need right now. We have the media; Bob is climbing in the polls; and our grassroots efforts are exploding – we’ve picked up 2,000 Meetup members in a week!

On top of our ballot access needs, Russ has instructed me to immediately raise $31,000 to move into our permanent campaign headquarters. We need to rent and install “bullpen” desk setups for our staffers. To start, we’ll have 30 dedicated, Barr/Root staffers and volunteers which will cost us $200 for setup and takedown plus $125 per month for each staffer.

To get rolling and cover the first month we need to raise $40,750.

Right now, we’re completely out of space in our temporary location (as I type this, I’m literally back to back with six others in a single office) and can’t fit in any more workers.

The location that we need to secure – if we can raise the funds – is an old AT&T call center. Russ loves it because it’s a very big open room with only two, small windows.

It really is a perfect space for our campaign team that is sprinting into what has been a two-party contest.

Don't Start the Revolution Without Me!If you have not done so recently, please take a minute right now and donate what you can. We need $31,000 to sign this lease plus $325 to setup and cover a staffer for a month.

Please follow this link donate generously: https://www.bobbarr2008.com/donate/?c=fbgp0620

I appreciate all that you do, and please check BobBarr2008.com every day for news and videos about Bob and Wayne from the campaign trail.

In Liberty,

Shane Cory
Deputy Campaign Manager
Barr 2008 Presidential Committee

Gas Prices are Killing Us!

Today was a milestone in my life. Today, gas prices hit four dollars a gallon. I had hoped that this day was not coming in the near future. In fact, it shouldn’t have.

If gas prices kept even with inflation, we should see a four percent growth in prices from year to year. Instead, we have seen 36% increases in single years.

What makes this so infuriating is that it was preventable. Most of us are on a shoestring budget after the latest round of energy price increases. The sad part is that idiots like John McCain and Barack Obama still don’t get it. They are pushing for more legislation that breaks the backs of normal Americans. I guess that’s easy to do when the feds give senators a blank check for their gas expenditures.

For my house, gas prices have been cutting into our savings in a major way. Its getting to the point where we are seriously having to cut back on driving.

It should have been different. We are sitting on more energy than most countries can imagine. Yet we do nothing. Nancy Pelosi is playing the fiddle while our economy tanks. Are there any good politicians out there?

This is no longer a political issue. It is a moral issue. I don’t say this lightly, but forget about your stupid tree hugger legislation. Tree hugging is not something we can afford right now. People are losing their lives, their liberty, and their ability to pursue happiness.

Our congress has failed us. It is time to elect new ones. Lets begin to ask for their resignations! Many republicans and democrats alike should be fired for their gross negligence. If they were running a business, they would be thrown in jail for their misuse of funds. Perhaps we should give congress a taste of their own medicine. They hold “trials” on the house floor, maybe we should put them on trial as well.

Barack Obama’s Church - Political Hate Speech

Barack Obama’s pastor, Jeremiah Wright, has been scrutinized a lot lately for his political activism from the pulpit. The IRS has been investigating his church (Trinity United Church of Christ) for being used as a political advocacy group rather than a place of worship.

The IRS could pull the church’s tax exempt status, but this is rarely done. In fact, it is questionable if the IRS can even enforce the pull on the tax exempt status.

A more pertinent issue for voters is “What sort of political influence did Barack Obama’s pastor have on Barack?” Tudra Politics has found an article that Jeremiah Wright distributed to his congregation on January 21, 2008.

The article shows the immense hate for America, and the deep rooted anti-white racism, that is found in Barack Obama’s Church. Jeremiah Wright’s article is laced with inflammatory rhetoric, outright lies, and various forms of socialistic political speech.

You can read the entire text below:

WHAT’S GOIN’ ON?

Marvin Gaye’s powerful “message song” is a song that made him famous because it went against the “Motown entertainment rule.” It raised serious questions about the culture, the country and governmental policy.

His song raised questions about Black-on-Black violence, about drugs, about war and about the way in which we were living (or not living) in a very difficult period of history.

I use his words today on the third Sunday of a New Year to keep before you the painful truth of who we are and where it is we are in this racist United States of America! What’s goin’ on?

We have lost over 3,000 boys and girls in an illegal and unjust war, and the media is on a feeding frenzy about Barack Obama’s church. Where is the outrage about the 3,000 dead American military personnel and the 600,000 dead Iraqi civilians who are dead for no reason other than greed and ego? What’s goin’ on?

This past Wednesday, January 17th, the House of Representatives deliberated on a bill to cut interest rates on federally subsidized student loans. On Thursday, January 18th, the House of Representatives considered legislation that would repeal some royalties and tax incentives from the oil and gas industries and redistribute that money to alternative and renewable energy such as bio-fuels.

The media, however, is not covering that news. The media wants to know about Barack Obama’s pastor. What’s goin’ on?

On the weekend leading up to Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, the House of Representatives passed a bill requiring the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services to negotiate drug prices for the Medicare program. The President who is “staying the course” and sending 21,500 more troops to their death has issued a veto threat against the
measure and there is no public outcry and no media outrage. What’s goin’ on?

The President’s “New Plan” (more troops, more death and more war) promises an insane escalation — in Iraq, Iran and beyond! With the torture of Abu Ghraib, the complete destructions of cities like Fallujah and over 600,000 deaths due to collateral damage, the President complained in his speech that there had been “too many restrictions” on the actions of the United States Forces in the Iraq war.

Am I the only one who heard that? What’s goin’ on?

I celebrate forty years of ordained ministry this weekend. I bask in the 40-year glow of God’s Grace, God’s forgiveness and God’s lessons about humility.

The e-mails that I have been getting this week, the news clippings that I am being sent and the racist blogs that are flooding the Internet make me know, however, that even as I bask, the work ahead for the church of Jesus Christ is just as serious and difficult today (if not more so) as it was forty years ago when I was ordained during the Vietnamese War!

The President tries to frame the justification for his insanity by using language describing the debate in this country over the war as “a great struggle between those who believe in freedom in moderation and extremists who kill the innocent.”

The reality, however, is that the entire war in Iraq and the larger “war on terror” have been based on lies, half-truths and distortions to serve the agenda of the United States imperialism. Where is the public outcry? Where is the outrage? What’s goin’ on?

There is more focus on what the Bears may or may not do as they play a football game against New Orleans than there is on the 3,000 homeless who are still living or displaced in the real life game called “New Orleans.”

Those poor Black and white displaced citizens of New Orleans (not imported team members playing for New Orleans), who have no place to
go and no place to live because of this administration’s illegal war and its billions of dollars wasted on prosecuting that war, join with me in asking, “What’s goin’ on?

Excuse me! The victims of Hurricane Katrina are no longer on the radar screen of the media. Only Barack, his church, his pastor and white arrogance!

I invite your sincere prayers this weekend. The generation of ministers behind me has its work cut out for them in some incredible and overwhelming ways!

Sincerely yours,
Jeremiah A. Wright

Update: Brutally Honest has another post showing even more inflammatory rhetoric from a very unchristian and and hate filled Jeremiah Wright.

Obama’s Playbook follows that of Mein Kampf

It appears that Barack Obama has been using Hitler’s playbook when it comes to propoganda. In his work Mein Kampf, Hitler said the following:

The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in sloans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan. As soon as you sacrifice this slogan and try to be many-sided, the effect will piddle away, for the crowd can neither digest nor retain the material offered. In this way the result is weakened and in the end entirely cancelled out.

I am not saying Barack Obama is a Nazi, so please do not think that it is what I am trying to say.

What I am saying is that Socialist Parties throughout history have made attempts to dupe the “masses” into giving them the election. They rely on catchy slogans that lack substance because they feel that it is too difficult to appeal to the “masses.”

Obama’s campaign mirrors this assumption. Using the KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) principle, he promotes “Change” and has slogans like “Yes We Can!” Keeping it simple, he can blindside every group.

Nobody can disagree with “Yes We Can!” so he shields his campaign from criticism on his “issues”. Furthermore, Obama presents a message that uninformed voters can jump behind without thinking.

Can we say “Dumbing down the electorate.”

Side Note: JonJayRay at the Stop the ACLU blog gives a great analysis of similarities between Pre-WWII fascists and Barack Obama’s Change Campaign. In his article, he gave the following quote:

“Alles muss anders sein” (Everything must be different) — Hitler’s briefest summary of his policies.

I guess “Change” has been the dumbed down electoral message of socialism for almost a century.

Ted Kennedy Sings to Mexico

Ted Kennedy has huge ambitions (and I am not talking about his drinking ambitions this weekend). He thinks that he can win Texan voters over with his singing.

Campaigning for Obama this weekend, Ted Kennedy attempted to do two things that a Drunken Massachusetts Senator should never do, he used Spanish and he tried to sing. Unfortunately, he used both at the same time.

Makes you wonder if the following will be added to the dictionary soon:

Ted Kennedy
Drunken Massachusetts Senator. Famous for his Spanish Serenades

Declaration of Conservative Independence

Inspirational conservative speaker, and leader of the famous 1994 Republican Revolution, Newt Gingrich, gave a speech that will forever change the Conservative Movement.

While conservative progress was formerly made from within the Republican party, Gingrich advocated a Declaration of Independence for the Conservative Movement. Below is a transcript of his speech.

35th Annual Conservative Political Action Conference

PODCAST version here

(Transcript made from speech as delivered.)

Thank you all for that remarkable welcome. I’m deeply, deeply grateful, and Callista and I are delighted to be back here once again at the most important single meeting of the conservative movement in a historic time. Many of you know that my background includes being a teacher, and I am going to try in the next few minutes to offer a little bit of a lesson. My Dad was a career soldier, served 27 years in the infantry, and when I was very young, he convinced me that leadership and courage and a willingness to think deeply are vital to the survival of a free country.

Between my freshman and sophomore years in high school, when we were stationed first in Orleans, France, and then in Stuttgart, Germany, I concluded that what we are doing here today is really, really important. It’s part of the dialogue by which a free people govern themselves. My dad was reassigned to Fort Benning, Georgia, and in 1960, I was a volunteer as a high school student in the Nixon-Lodge campaign. So I want to talk to you this afternoon from having spent what will be this August, fifty years studying and thinking about what it takes for America to survive. In many ways, they’ve been remarkable years. The Georgia I arrived at in 1960, was legally segregated and a one-party Democratic state. Today it is legally integrated and a two-party state with a Republican governor, two Republican senators, and a Republican legislature.

RINO War…

McCain’s almost certain nomination as the Republican presidential candidate has not bode well with many conservatives within the party. By many standards, Senator McCain fits the definition of RINO.

RINO is a term that is used to describe Republicans who act like democrats. It stands for”Republican In Name Only.”

Several websites, talk show hosts, and even party activists have been grumbling about the fact that John McCain has been on the democrat side of many issues. After the Super Tuesday vote, many groups have began to organize to remove the RINOs from the Republican Party.

Groups similar to “Republicans Against McCain”, have garnered support among disenfranchised conservatives. The creator of the group (on Facebook), Joey Presutti, wrote the following reason for their position:

John McCain has claimed to be the “true” conservative of the Republican candidates. He claims that he has a social, fiscal, and security conservative record throughout his term as a Senator. This is not true. This group is united under the cause of John McCain is not a good candidate to represent the conservative Republican part in 2008. We will not vote for him in the upcoming election due to our protest and we will stand not only against the Democratic machine and John McCain, but we will stand on our conservative principles that John McCain has arrogantly left behind.

1) one of only two Republicans Senators to oppose Bush tax cuts in 2001
2) one of only three Republicans to oppose 2003 reductions
3) in 1998 he sponsered, as Chariman of Commerce, and voted for a 282% tax increase on cigarettes
4) Voted for an amendment that would authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services to set prices on prescription drugs under Medicare
5) Voted against a bill that would prohibit an increase in CAFE standards
6) Voted for an amendment that would prohibit oil drilling in part of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska
7) Voted (along with all of his Senate colleagues) in favor of the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, an overreaction to corporate malfeasance that imposed heavy financial burdens on companies

He is for the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism, however his domestic, national security seems to be far from conservative.

1) Supported President Bush’s “Guest Worker” program which the majority of conservatives disagreed. This program gives amnesty to illegal workers that have been working for five years
2) Sided with Senator Ted Kennedy on his proposal of a guest worker program in 2005
3) voted yes on illegal immigrants to participate in Social Security
4) He does support amnesty,

May 29, 2003 interview: “Amnesty has to be an important part because there are people who have lived in this country for 20, 30 or 40 years, who have raised children here and pay taxes here and are not citizens.”

Dec. 15, 2000 press release: “I support the Latino and Immigrant Fairness Act (LIFA). Negotiations between the White House and the leadership, which endorsed more limited immigration reform, have resulted in a compromise…. this bill makes meaningful but insufficient progress on amnesty for those wrongly denied it.”

McCain-Feingold Act, a bill he authored with Senator Russ Feingold (Democrat), that tramples the First Amendment and places both men as arbiters of appropriate political speech, worthy of deciphering which speech is “right” and which should be permitted in American political debate

McCain supported the Gang of 14 allowing filibusters to be limited going against his own party, the GOP

McCain does not agree with gay marriage but does not believe there should be a federal amendment of marriage between a man and woman. Gay marriage should be decided by the states

Sign the Petition - No to McCain, Yes to Conservatism

Tundra Politics has started a petition that we are hoping will be a Referendum on liberalism in the Republican Party. John McCain has destroyed his party platform for a populist agenda.

He has stood for illegal immigration, assaults on free speech, new taxes, and a bill that would force us to sacrifice jobs in the name of global environmentalism.

Please Sign the No to McCain, Yes to Conservatism Petition.

We need a strong conservative congress to fight against the agenda of anyone of the three liberal candidates for president (McCain, Clinton, or Obama).

If we grow our conservative representation in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate , we can survive the four years of Liberal leadership and then put a conservative in the White house in 2012.

Please Sign the No to McCain, Yes to Conservatism Petition.

Tornado Strikes Near Walmart in Clinton Arkansas

On Super Tuesday a tornado struck Clinton, Arkansas near the Walmart. This has so many parallels to the voting today that I don’t know where to begin.

First of all the Tornado (NOAA Report):

TORNADO ON THE GROUND NEAR WAL-MART.

0542 PM TORNADO CLINTON 35.58N 92.45W
02/05/2008 VAN BUREN AR TRAINED SPOTTER

The Clinton campaign was struck by a major Tornado today, and it’s name was Obama. Hillary was the frontrunner for how many years? And yet she is in a fight for her life. Neither Clinton or Obama have run a clean campaign, and both deserve what they get, but you have to feel sorry for someone that basically had the nomination. It was hers to lose, and she blew it.

On another note, the tornado was reported near Walmart. The major retail giant has become a major focal point of another person’s campaign, Mike Huckabee. The way I see it, is that all the devastation and turmoil has been caused in this campaign is because of Mike Huckabee’s Walmart-Republican class warfare.   Mike Huckabe, because of arrogance or malice, has decided to derail a true conservative so that he can get favors from McCain. This is disappointing, deceitful, and foolish. In the end, McCain’s policies will bankrupt the “Walmart Republicans” that Huckabee says he loves. If Huckabee really cared, he would back out and have his delegates vote Romney, instead he acts as a saboteur of the entire party.

McCain Sabotages West Virginia Convention

The McCain camp seems to have it out for conservatives. The West Virginia GOP convention was in the Romney column until the McCain campaign asked their people to vote for Huckabee. He only did this hoping that he can smash Huckabee in the end, and pit Huckabee supporters against Romney.

Pooling their votes, they sabotaged the Romney campaign. McCain is playing the Huckabee folks like a Fiddle, and in the end, it will be conservatives who suffer. The fallout from McCain’s dirty antics will divide the party.

Huckabee supporters should realize the way that McCain is using them as tools for his bidding. When all the fallout settles, they will see a McCain who swindled them out of the election, and represents none of the social conservative views that Huckabee supporters stand for.
