Despite what last week’s reports said, IndyBank has collapsed. Due to the collapse, the Federal government has stepped in, and done something worse. The United States federal government has created a black hole.
How has the government done this? They just nationalized IndyBank. The bank is now to be known as IndyMac Federal Bank. Since the nationalization of the bank, there has been a run on IndyMac Federal Bank. People are lining up to take their money out.
Banking expert Tom Davidoff had the following to say about the banking disaster:
“I don’t think this is the last bank we’re going to see fail. After all, a lot of banks are invested in mortgage-backed securities. Mortgage-backed securities have declined in value, and if they face a lot of cash needs on the part of depositors, we’re going to see more bank failures.”
So is this how our new government works? Now, we nationalize companies as they fail. Just wait until factories start to close, are we going to take over them as well.
How about churches? They benefit society, should we bail them out and nationalize them if they fail?
Democrats are already proposing nationalizing the oil industry.
We are paddling down a river towards the point of no return. The waterfall is near, and the current is strong. Will we make the right decisions, or plunge towards our own facist revolution?

Today was a milestone in my life. Today, gas prices hit four dollars a gallon. I had hoped that this day was not coming in the near future. In fact, it shouldn’t have.
If gas prices kept even with inflation, we should see a four percent growth in prices from year to year. Instead, we have seen 36% increases in single years.
What makes this so infuriating is that it was preventable. Most of us are on a shoestring budget after the latest round of energy price increases. The sad part is that idiots like John McCain and Barack Obama still don’t get it. They are pushing for more legislation that breaks the backs of normal Americans. I guess that’s easy to do when the feds give senators a blank check for their gas expenditures.
For my house, gas prices have been cutting into our savings in a major way. Its getting to the point where we are seriously having to cut back on driving.
It should have been different. We are sitting on more energy than most countries can imagine. Yet we do nothing. Nancy Pelosi is playing the fiddle while our economy tanks. Are there any good politicians out there?
This is no longer a political issue. It is a moral issue. I don’t say this lightly, but forget about your stupid tree hugger legislation. Tree hugging is not something we can afford right now. People are losing their lives, their liberty, and their ability to pursue happiness.
Our congress has failed us. It is time to elect new ones. Lets begin to ask for their resignations! Many republicans and democrats alike should be fired for their gross negligence. If they were running a business, they would be thrown in jail for their misuse of funds. Perhaps we should give congress a taste of their own medicine. They hold “trials” on the house floor, maybe we should put them on trial as well.

America is in danger of collapse and I don’t say this lightly.
I have believed in the exceptionalism of America for as long as I could understand what that meant. Five years ago, I would have told you that our economy will recover, that times will get better, and that freedom will prevail, but now I am doubting that optimism.
Freedom is like a tender flower. It is beautiful beyond description. Freedom is something that is wonderful, life changing, but all together fragile. Freedom trampled upon will wither quickly. Just like the flower, trampled freedom will take a lot more work to revive it than it does to destroy.
Our congress has forsaken their sacred duties. They have rejected the idea that they are for the people, by the people, and of the people. This is not something that is easily remedied.
At this point, we have the choice between two major candidates (John McCain and Barack Obama) who’s political ideals line up closer to that of a socialist/nationalist agenda than to the principles that kept us free for so many years.
Last year, we stood on the edge of a great divide. As our nations toes inched closer to a cliff that would spell disaster if we should we ever pass the tipping point, and fall face first to peril, our leaders laughed, played their fiddles, and said that all is well. Instead of heeding the warning signs, our leaders offered populist fixes. They guaranteed a short term happiness, but willingly neglected our future. The US congress has sold our futures for the price of an election.
The McCain-Feingold bill solidified the place of career politicians while making it very difficult for your average citizen to represent his neighbors. The Lieberman-Warner act will chase away our jobs, create faux energy shortages, and artificially inflate prices on necessities such as gasoline, clothing, and food.
Lieberman-Warner will institute a new tax called the “cap and trade” tax. This will give quotas for every company. If their level of Carbon Dioxide (remember that CO2 is the harmless stuff that plants use) increases beyond a certain level, they will be punished. This will often involve a forced payment to their competition.
You have to remember that Carbon Dioxide is not a gas that is poisonous. It is a safe gas that makes up a very small proportion of our atmosphere. Yet, we are willing to over-regulate our workplaces to the point that they will be forced to move to another nation? This is foolishness at it’s worst!
There has seldom been a tax that has ever been repealed. We normally see “reductions” but we never see a complete repeal. If this bill gets through, and it will, it could be the large straw that breaks the camel’s back. Our nation cannot handle any more stress on our economy, our personal lives, and our freedoms.
Right now, we stand with our toes over the cliff of no return, and I have no faith in our politicians to make the right decision. Get your parachutes out, this could be a bumpy ride.

McCain’s latest comments about implementing tariffs against China and other countries for their “carbon footprint” should be a warning flag for the nation’s true conservatives.
Liberal Democrats and Republicans have participated in live-for-the-moment economic policies that rival the “money handout” campaigns by Juan and Eva Peron Those policies eventually crippled the Argentinian economy. McCain’s economic and foreign policies are just as foolish, and will destroy our hurting economy.
Did you know that the Nazi party was the “less” liberal of the parties in Germany in pre world war II? They were very much a liberal party, just not as much as the communists. The problem is that the conservatives in Germany put Hitler into office because he was less liberal than the other guys.
Before you invoke Godwin’s Law, let me explain. McCain represents the less liberal of the choices for president. While he might not be “Nazi” material, he certainly represents the unraveling and the destruction of almost everything conservatives have worked on for the past fifteen years.
Conservatives are in a pickle right now. While McCain is a bad candidate, Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton are far worse.
And this is where Bob Barr comes in. Conservatives have generally sacrificed some principles for the greater good of conservatism. However, a vote for McCain may very well put a stake though the heart of the conservative movement. Former Republican Congressman Bob Barr will be taking on the other big contenders while flying the Libertarian Party flag.
Bob Barr is really the last conservative who has a chance of energizing the conservative base.
The only way conservatives win this election is by losing the presidency. Here is how: If Bob Barr is effective in energizing the conservative base, he will send many voters to the polls that would normally stay home. This will help conservative Republican candidates win seats in the senate and house and will further help state and local elections turn to the conservative favor.
However, Republicans will likely split their vote and lose the presidential election. This is not as bad as it seems. Four years of a conservative congress with a liberal president is much better than eight years of a sort-of conservative president and a liberal congress.
Those running for state and local offices should go out of their way to support Bob Barr, it will energize the base, and will send a ripple effect through Republican party. With or without them, the conservatives will thrive.

This week, two major “trials” took place in the Democrat controlled United States congress.
First of all, Oil company executives were put on trial. One after the other, congressmen and women took cheap shots at the oil companies. They claimed the oil companies unjustly gained profits and are not helping their competitors enough.
Another “trial” will take place on Thursday, when the airline executives will be grilled on safety measures.
I am really not sure how many more people congress can attack this year. If your industry has not been subpoenaed by congress, I am sure it will be on the docket. If you make a profit outside of government, don’t advertise it, you may be next on the chopping block!

Barack Obama’s pastor, Jeremiah Wright, has been scrutinized a lot lately for his political activism from the pulpit. The IRS has been investigating his church (Trinity United Church of Christ) for being used as a political advocacy group rather than a place of worship.
The IRS could pull the church’s tax exempt status, but this is rarely done. In fact, it is questionable if the IRS can even enforce the pull on the tax exempt status.
A more pertinent issue for voters is “What sort of political influence did Barack Obama’s pastor have on Barack?” Tudra Politics has found an article that Jeremiah Wright distributed to his congregation on January 21, 2008.
The article shows the immense hate for America, and the deep rooted anti-white racism, that is found in Barack Obama’s Church. Jeremiah Wright’s article is laced with inflammatory rhetoric, outright lies, and various forms of socialistic political speech.

WHAT’S GOIN’ ON?
Marvin Gaye’s powerful “message song” is a song that made him famous because it went against the “Motown entertainment rule.” It raised serious questions about the culture, the country and governmental policy.
His song raised questions about Black-on-Black violence, about drugs, about war and about the way in which we were living (or not living) in a very difficult period of history.
I use his words today on the third Sunday of a New Year to keep before you the painful truth of who we are and where it is we are in this racist United States of America! What’s goin’ on?
We have lost over 3,000 boys and girls in an illegal and unjust war, and the media is on a feeding frenzy about Barack Obama’s church. Where is the outrage about the 3,000 dead American military personnel and the 600,000 dead Iraqi civilians who are dead for no reason other than greed and ego? What’s goin’ on?
This past Wednesday, January 17th, the House of Representatives deliberated on a bill to cut interest rates on federally subsidized student loans. On Thursday, January 18th, the House of Representatives considered legislation that would repeal some royalties and tax incentives from the oil and gas industries and redistribute that money to alternative and renewable energy such as bio-fuels.
The media, however, is not covering that news. The media wants to know about Barack Obama’s pastor. What’s goin’ on?
On the weekend leading up to Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, the House of Representatives passed a bill requiring the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services to negotiate drug prices for the Medicare program. The President who is “staying the course” and sending 21,500 more troops to their death has issued a veto threat against the
measure and there is no public outcry and no media outrage. What’s goin’ on?
The President’s “New Plan” (more troops, more death and more war) promises an insane escalation — in Iraq, Iran and beyond! With the torture of Abu Ghraib, the complete destructions of cities like Fallujah and over 600,000 deaths due to collateral damage, the President complained in his speech that there had been “too many restrictions” on the actions of the United States Forces in the Iraq war.
Am I the only one who heard that? What’s goin’ on?
I celebrate forty years of ordained ministry this weekend. I bask in the 40-year glow of God’s Grace, God’s forgiveness and God’s lessons about humility.
The e-mails that I have been getting this week, the news clippings that I am being sent and the racist blogs that are flooding the Internet make me know, however, that even as I bask, the work ahead for the church of Jesus Christ is just as serious and difficult today (if not more so) as it was forty years ago when I was ordained during the Vietnamese War!
The President tries to frame the justification for his insanity by using language describing the debate in this country over the war as “a great struggle between those who believe in freedom in moderation and extremists who kill the innocent.”
The reality, however, is that the entire war in Iraq and the larger “war on terror” have been based on lies, half-truths and distortions to serve the agenda of the United States imperialism. Where is the public outcry? Where is the outrage? What’s goin’ on?
There is more focus on what the Bears may or may not do as they play a football game against New Orleans than there is on the 3,000 homeless who are still living or displaced in the real life game called “New Orleans.”
Those poor Black and white displaced citizens of New Orleans (not imported team members playing for New Orleans), who have no place to
go and no place to live because of this administration’s illegal war and its billions of dollars wasted on prosecuting that war, join with me in asking, “What’s goin’ on?”
Excuse me! The victims of Hurricane Katrina are no longer on the radar screen of the media. Only Barack, his church, his pastor and white arrogance!
I invite your sincere prayers this weekend. The generation of ministers behind me has its work cut out for them in some incredible and overwhelming ways!

Anti-Strib is reporting that Mike Cerisi announced in an email today that he is out of the Minnesota Senate Race.
It’s now a race between Al Franken and Norm Coleman.
Now since Al Franken is the presumptive nominee, lets go over his key issues. These are his stances listed on his website (The spin has been removed to protect the ignorant).
- Pull the troops out of Iraq Immediately
- Immediate and completely universal, government run health care.
- Universal government run health care for all veterans. This is kind of redundant and un-special since he said he would do this for everyone else as well.
- Federal funding and control of the public education system.
- Increased redistribution of the wealth for public education (see his education page for more details).
- Forcing companies to fund pension liabilities. I actually agree that companies should do this. It’s kind of funny that his version of socialized government does not have to do the same with social security.
- Amnesty for illegal aliens
- Government run wind turbine factories. This was by far the strangest of the proposals of his site. He said that we should take over the Ford plant and turn it into a wind turbine producing factory. Then Franken went on to say that we [the government?] should be putting these up all over Minnesota.

In the past week, there have been two terrorist attacks by radical left wing groups in the United States. While neither caused injuries to people, both seemed to be designed to terrorize and intimidate those who don’t submit to the leftist agenda.
On Monday, three luxury “green” homes were set ablaze with explosive devices in a Seattle, Washington suburb. An EnviroCommunist group called “Earth Liberation Front” claimed responsibility for the actions. A bed sheet sign at the site read “McMansions in RCDs r not green”.
Then on Thursday, another group threw a small explosive device into a military recruiting center in Times Square. According to Fox News:
“The blast left a gaping hole in the recruiting station’s front window and shattered a glass door, twisting and blackening the building’s metal frame. Guests at the nearby Marriott Marquis said they heard a bang and felt the building shake.”
Even though we have had two terrorist attacks this week, little was made of it in the mainstream media. I did not hear anyone form the connection between environmental/anti-war left wing groups and these terrorist activities.
We have a major problem sweeping the globe. The leftist brat entitlement mentality is overflowing into violence and corruption when they no longer get their way. While politics is rarely as civilized as some would like, the left has made it brutal.
This year, the left may have a taste of their own medicine. As they preach non-violence, many radical groups secretly crave destruction. When they do not get their way, they react in an irrational manner. Many of these groups will be actively protesting the democrat convention this year. Given the tension within the party, there is a good chance another “1968 style convention” may occur.

President Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic is probably one of the bravest and most eloquent leaders in the free world. He is only the second president to serve the Czech Republic.
President Klaus understands the world that we live in better than most. He lived through communism and has life experience in being under governmental systems of control that we only read about in George Orwell novels.
Last year, he published an insightful article on global warming that everyone should read. He pointed out what the real motives are behind the blind cult-like support of anyone who worships and sacrifices at the global warming alter. His article follows:
We are living in strange times. One exceptionally warm winter is enough – irrespective of the fact that in the course of the 20th century the global temperature increased only by 0.6 per cent – for the environmentalists and their followers to suggest radical measures to do something about the weather, and to do it right now.
In the past year, Al Gore’s so-called “documentary” film was shown in cinemas worldwide, Britain’s – more or less Tony Blair’s – Stern report was published, the fourth report of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was put together and the Group of Eight summit announced ambitions to do something about the weather. Rational and freedom-loving people have to respond. The dictates of political correctness are strict and only one permitted truth, not for the first time in human history, is imposed on us. Everything else is denounced.
The author Michael Crichton stated it clearly: “the greatest challenge facing mankind is the challenge of distinguishing reality from fantasy, truth from propaganda”. I feel the same way, because global warming hysteria has become a prime example of the truth versus propaganda problem. It requires courage to oppose the “established” truth, although a lot of people – including top-class scientists – see the issue of climate change entirely differently. They protest against the arrogance of those who advocate the global warming hypothesis and relate it to human activities.
As someone who lived under communism for most of his life, I feel obliged to say that I see the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity now in ambitious environmentalism, not in communism. This ideology wants to replace the free and spontaneous evolution of mankind by a sort of central (now global) planning.
The environmentalists ask for immediate political action because they do not believe in the long-term positive impact of economic growth and ignore both the technological progress that future generations will undoubtedly enjoy, and the proven fact that the higher the wealth of society, the higher is the quality of the environment. They are Malthusian pessimists.
The scientists should help us and take into consideration the political effects of their scientific opinions. They have an obligation to declare their political and value assumptions and how much they have affected their selection and interpretation of scientific evidence.
Does it make any sense to speak about warming of the Earth when we see it in the context of the evolution of our planet over hundreds of millions of years? Every child is taught at school about temperature variations, about the ice ages, about the much warmer climate in the Middle Ages. All of us have noticed that even during our life-time temperature changes occur (in both directions).
Due to advances in technology, increases in disposable wealth, the rationality of institutions and the ability of countries to organise themselves, the adaptability of human society has been radically increased. It will continue to increase and will solve any potential consequences of mild climate changes.
I agree with Professor Richard Lindzen from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who said: “future generations will wonder in bemused amazement that the early 21st century’s developed world went into hysterical panic over a globally averaged temperature increase of a few tenths of a degree, and, on the basis of gross exaggerations of highly uncertain computer projections combined into implausible chains of inference, proceeded to contemplate a roll-back of the industrial age”.
The issue of global warming is more about social than natural sciences and more about man and his freedom than about tenths of a degree Celsius changes in average global temperature.
As a witness to today’s worldwide debate on climate change, I suggest the following:
- Small climate changes do not demand far-reaching restrictive measures
- Any suppression of freedom and democracy should be avoided
- Instead of organising people from above, let us allow everyone to live as he wants
- Let us resist the politicisation of science and oppose the term “scientific consensus”, which is always achieved only by a loud minority, never by a silent majority
- Instead of speaking about “the environment”, let us be attentive to it in our personal behaviour
- Let us be humble but confident in the spontaneous evolution of human society. Let us trust its rationality and not try to slow it down or divert it in any direction
- Let us not scare ourselves with catastrophic forecasts, or use them to defend and promote irrational interventions in human lives.
I never thought I would say this, but some of the best leadership in the world is coming out of the Czech Republic (and France with Nicholas Sarcozy) these days.

For the casual Minnesota politics observer, the Minnesota House of Representatives is a boring topic. Most people are too busy working, raising a family, or collecting welfare checks.
However, the issues developing internally inside the Minnesota House Republican Caucus should catch everyone’s attention. The leader of the House Republicans, Marty Seifert, has done a great job of holding their minority of Representatives together. Last year, they stopped a tax increase due to his leadership ability.
While Seifert’s leadership has been stronger than ever, some Republicans in Name Only decided it was time to make their move. Fueled by special interest money and political self serving motives, Ron Erhardt and a handful of others who tainted the Republican name, decided to come out of the closet and begin their internal takeover of the Grand Old Party.
Fortunately, we have another option. Representative Ron Erhardt, can be fired by his constituents by him not getting the nomination at his local Republican Convention. Fortunately, there is already someone who is willing to take his place.
Keith Downey has announced that he will be taking on Ron Erhardt in the crucial battle for the Edina 41-A Republican nomination for the House of Representatives.
Blogger and Minnesota Senate candidate, Bill Jungbauer, has posted a brief writeup on Mr. Downey. He should be a good candidate according to Jungbauer.
Also included on Jungbauer’s post is a podcast link for the Chris Baker show. Baker had interviewed Ron Erhardt on Friday morning. Erhardt appeared to be unconvincing and awkward. You can also read the entire interview of Ron Erhardt here.
