Books Great

What are some books to read about specific battles during the Second World War?
I recently read a book on vision War and bought the band of brothers series. They was very interesting and enjoyable. Read more in some battles that took place specific, eg D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, or Stalingrad. If anyone has any recommendations for books about these battles, or books that have nothing to do with battles, but other parts of war, that would be great. Thank you.
Hippypoacher123, I agree with xo379 (above me). I suggest reading taking into account the following as follows: Army at Dawn Rick Atkinson (as xo379 recommended). This book covers the front lines in North Africa and you see / read all the great generals on both sides. Some surprises were in store for you here. This is where the war in Europe starts from U.S. in the field. Day of Battle: Rick Atkinson. I recommend reading this directly after the above (which also follows the rhythm of the war and how they traveled in time). The greatest battle (Moscow): Andrew Nagórski. ISBN 978-0-7432-8111-9. It involves the Germans, Russians, and special political knowledge of U.S. Embassy in Moscow as well. D-Day: There's one just come out in October 2009 by Antony Beevor (referenced by descriptive xo379 for fighting for "Stalingrad", which is a great accounting of the battle), however, I also suggest reading Stephen Ambrose's version of D-Day for comparative analysis. For the bigger picture (and I will stop after the list of these two below ~ but you can email me offline if you wish) I suggest the following: Armageddon (The Battle of Germany from September 1944 to May 1945) by Max Hastings. ISBN: 978-0-375-71422-1. Retribution (the battle for Japan from September 1944 to September 1945) by Max Hastings. ISBN: 978-0-307-27536-3. These two previous books are very objective, Max Hastings called so to speak, and you become entranced with his description of the various parts of the war (air, land and sea), both in the ETO and PTO. Happy reading! Gerry D.
